I guess I wasn't blowing smoke up my own ass yesterday a.m. USA Today also noticed FOX's Megyn Kelly (a lawyer) and Judge Sotomayor's twin power suits on Day One of Sotomayor's confirmation hearings. Watch the video.

Strangely, today FOX's Supreme Court chick Shannon Bream and Sonia had on the same color red jacket and black top. What's going on here?

MSNBC's David Shuster apologizes for a lady talking head uttering "blowjob" on the air Monday. Blowjob as in Bill Clinton. Democrat.

Why can't you say "blowjob" with impunity on MSNBC and other cable news networks? MSNBC's prime time stars Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann went positively orgasmic not so long ago over "teabagging." Uttering it. Chyron.

And Shuster himself on April 16th after the Republican Tea Party protests: "Teabagging day for the right wing and they are going nuts for it."

Teabagging: putting a guy's balls in your mouth.

CNN's Anderson Cooper, who knows a bit about these sort of things, advised on air "It's hard to talk whille you're teabagging."

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough finally had it up to his keister with the anti-Republican sexual slurs on his own network.

1970s man magnet - CBS veteran Lesley Stahl - is passing the torch to Mika Brzezinski, fingering the MSNBC star at the top of her list of rising female news talent I’m a big fan of Mika Brzezinski on "Morning Joe." She’s become one of the "guys" on hard news subjects.

I've been thumping Mika for months. She's smart, funny, and personable. And possesses that exotically beautiful Eastern European face. When Joe, Mika, and I showed up for the Jim Bohannon Show at the CBS News Washington bureau last month (Joe and Mika were on before me), I laughed to Mika she was "hot." Mika doesn't want to be perceived as "hot." It appears to be her hot button and she seems to bristle when interviewers invoke that label.

I've got 18 years on Mika. Don't fight it. When you get my age (and you told me I don't look it), you'll still look dynamite and appreciate compliments even if they're vaguely sexual. I sat on Jim Bohannon's lap with a video camera rolling as Mika sat nearby. I got off Jim's lap and said to Mika: "I'm 60. I don't care what anyone thinks. I do whatever the f**k I want."

Back in the day young men went crazy for Lesley Stahl. She'd come on the TV and guys would drool. Seriously. I was there. I'm talking late 60s early 70s. My ex-husband (1970-73) was madly in love with Lesley and paid zero attention to me when the then-twentyish network star was on TV.

Newspaper correction of the day: NYT. An article on July 5 about the opening of the Statue of Liberty’s crown to the public for the first time in almost eight years referred incorrectly in some editions to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents who were on Liberty Island during the reopening ceremony. They were there only to watch the ceremony; they were not armed and were not patrolling the island.

The Washington Post runs a Sarah Palin op-ed, identifying her at the end as "the Republican governor of Alaksa": "There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented. Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be: I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage."

Barack Obama may figure he's got the FOX News bases covered by appearing in the baseball announcers' booth in St. Louis. As of late Obama's hit home runs with all TV networks but FOX.

Sports Illustrated: "The President will join Fox Sports announcers Joe Buck and Tim McCarver during Tuesday's All-Star Game. Obama is expected to be in the booth sometime between the third and fifth inning. SI.com reported earlier that the White House was considering Fox Sports' request to interview the President during the game."

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy(right) kicks off the Sotomayor Surpeme Court confirmation hearings two minutes ago by asking Judge Sonia to introduce all the members of her family to which Sotomayor retorted "If I introduced everyone that's family we'd be here all morning."

THIS JUST IN! Fired Philadelphia news anchor Alycia Lane has gone to LA. "MetroNews reports she's gone to join boyfriend Chris Booker, an afternoon drive top 40 jock there. Lane has been off the air since December '07, when she was accused of striking a NYC cop, charges later dismissed. Lane says her Washington Square condo is on the market and she hopes to land a tv gig."

The multiple-married Latina Lovely Lane is bad news. She emailed photos of herself in a bikini to a sports anchor that were intercepted by his wife. Lane was boinking a NYC CBS local anchor who later reunited with his Playboy wife Victoria Silvstedt.

She's such a dick magnet that her KYW anchor Larry Mendte was found guilty of federal charges of breaking into her email.

CBS's "Early Show" anchoress Maggie Rodriguez reluctantly accepted the "offer of a lifetime" weekend gig at CBS News in 2007 and within six months joined the weekday majors.

Wash Post media maven Howard Kurtz profiles the Cuban refugee from Miami. The 39-year-old mother of one has brass balls: "She has terrific energy," [co-anchor Harry] Smith says. "She knows what it takes to go get a story. She's not afraid to leave the building." He adds that Rodriguez is "very hungry to learn" more about on-air techniques. The network brass has taken notice: Rodriguez now regularly substitutes for Katie Couric on the evening news.

I find it interesting that the Wash Post runs a positive piece on a Latina lovely the same day the Sonia Sotomayor Supreme Court hearings kick off in the Senate...

Today's NYT has an above-the-fold piece with the bizarre photo (above).

Pat Buchanan this a.m. on MSNBC's "Morning Joe": "I think First Dude up there in Alaska, Todd Palin, ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops" after Sarah's daughter's baby daddy blabbed to the media that Sarah quit for money. Huff Post has the vid. Levi Johnston has used his 15 minutes of fame to trash Sarah in multiple media appearances.

MSNBC (wasting no time trumpeting the NYT piece) calls a "signing event" in Alaska last week on how the Republican governors' sent an emissary to Alaska in March to stage an alcholic-like "intervention" to force Sarah to come to her senses. It failed, sez the Times in "Palin's Route to Resignations: Missteps and Ignored Advice"

Huff Post plucks a headline from the bowels of the Times story quoting "friends": "Sarah Palin Underweight, Anxious, Needed 'Emergency Help' for Thinning Hair."

NYT Book Review the Last Best Hope

MSNBC's Joe Scarborough's "Last Best Hope" is hanging in there at #25 for the second week on the NYT's best seller list after plummeting from #7 after a mere two weeks.

The Times finally reviews it three weeks after The List debut and plunge, assuring a dusty future in remainder bins.

If this book is indeed the last best hope of conservatism and America’s promise, well, it was nice knowing you.... To be sure, Scarborough is the host of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, the most consistently engaging morning talk show on cable television. His co-host, Mika Brzezinski, and a stable of regulars that includes the accused plagiarist Mike Barnicle and the John Demjanjuk enthusiast Pat Buchanan (as well as the editor of the Book Review, Sam Tanenhaus) are a genuinely spirited crew who discuss and debate the news of the day with a mixture of conviction, knowledge and humor that is all too rare. Compared with, say, “Fox & Friends,” “Morning Joe” is the Algonquin Round Table on steroids, or at least Vivarin.

Did I miss the New York Times disclaimer about the "content-sharing parternship" with MSNBC/NBC/CNBC? The ink-stained wretch with a face for TV, John Harwood, is the face man for the NYT/MSNBC once a week hour of power. Obviously the book reviewer isn't fond of ex-Boston Globe plagiarist Mike Barnicle. The Pat Buchanan slam goes without saying, but his comment about the accused Nazi war criminal turned auto worker is particularly brutal.

This shouldn't be in the NYT Book Review. It's a pimp of Joe's show. MSNBC could pluck promos from the aforementioned paragraph.
