Roger Ailes as Snidely Whiplash

"Curses!  Foiled again!"

"Mwahahaha?"  Gabriel Sherman NY mag
NY mag scribe Gabriel Sherman characterizes Fox News boss Roger Ailes as a Snidely Whiplash/Vincent Price villain in a piece warning Repub presidential candidates not to expect a cakewalk at Fox News debates and interviews:

Sherman on the Saturday Mike Huckabee Fox NYC HQ Repub forum that attracted a half-dozen candidates including Mitt Romney:  Fox's decision to allow Times scribe Jim Rutenberg into the building to confront the candidates in person threw campaign aides off guard, especially in the Romney camp, which went into "defensive mode immediately, insisting that the reporter stay far away," as Rutenberg later wrote.

Sherman's got it wrong; Ailes is neither Snidely nor Snidely's dumb-as-a-brick rival Dudley Do-Right who wins only by dumb luck. Villains always lose.  Ailes almost never utters Snidley's "Curses!  Foiled again!" [See Sarah Palin and Mark Levin.]

I prefer "Muahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"  Sherman should've made Ailes a political figure.  Bill Clinton comes to mind.
