CNN Beats Off After Beating Cable News Rivals (and Obama) To Kim Jong Il Death News

CNN:  Bottoms up.
Before Fox News and MSNBC dumped taped shows late Sunday night, Huff Post pimps CNN's Dear Leader in Washington, bureau chief Sam Feist, bragging about CNN's breaking news superiority. CNN even hauled in the Queen of Foreign Affairs Christiane Amanpour to wrangle the death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il.  Huffington Post

Well, it turns out Fox's Harris Faulkner broke into Geraldo At Large at 10:11p and Fox's Geraldo Himself heralded Kim's exit at 10:21p Mediaite but went back to the taped Huckabee. The Wrap

TVNewser notes MSNBC broke in twice -- 10:17 and 10:23p.

So CNN went wall-to-wall and the other cable networks didn't afford the ailing now dead weasel more air.

Feist retweets CNN EP's orgasmic tweet "telling our viewers at 10:07 pm" while Obama wasn't told until "about 10:30."

Actually Twitter got it first.

  1. I don't know where Sam Feist of CNN is getting his information but TVNewser has a different take on when Fox News and CNN broke the news...

  2. Hereditary communist dictatorships:  Explain that one to Karl Marx.
Too bad for Michelle Bachman.  Kim Jong Dead was a leader she could have looked straight in the eye.

  3. Yeah, I got it later.  Thanks.  TVNewser, The Wrap, and Mediaite.  This was after I took off for a three-hour bicycle ride after going with the Huff Post thing -- a mistake as it turns out.

Apparently the other cable networks didn't think Kim Jong Il's demise worthy of wall-to-wall after breaking the news shortly after CNN.  I corrected my errors.

  4. I wonder if the Golf Channel will give him a tribute. Kim Jong Il was a helluva golfer.
