Sounds to me that Diller's greasing the skids for golden Hammer to finally assume, in Bill Carter's words, "the assignment of fixing NBC’s disastrous entertainment division." An assignment then-NBC CEO Jeff Zucker didn't offer. Hammer: “There was a bit of fear that USA is making so much money we have to protect it.”
Underemployed. Not quite like NBC's latest hire, Chelsea Clinton . . .
