At this point in 2007, Obama was 3rd in democratic polls, and McCain had vanished. At this point in 2003, John Kerry had disappeared, awaiting the annointing of democratic nominee Howard Dean. Give somebody a couple of primary wins, and they'll suddenly develop gravitas.
I can't imagine a "President Gingrich" making through an entire SOTU without saying "Frankly" at least a half dozen times.
If your firm earned its income by advising clients on how to accomplish their goals, would you only accept work from those who agreed with your own political philosophy? Law firms, for example, are essentially "consultants" for legal issues and few would refuse money from those they diagree with. So I don't think making money off the mortgage or healthcare industries are a real issue.
Sitting next to Nancy Pelosi to get on the gloabal warming bandwagon, though...
Yeah, Al, I loathe Newt's lifelong reliance on "frankly." Frankly he's full of shit. But then again, they all are. Repubs and Dems. I have no problem with Newt's business activities post-Congress. There really isn't any there there given the obscene corruption in DC and beyond. On the corruption-o-meter, Newt's not up there with, say John Kerry and others who made boatloads of dough on insider trading.
Sounds like Newt may have advised the white house on the healthcare bill, seems like they used a lot of his ideas,if the article was true.
