Wash Post Chick Flick

Wash Post 'The Reliable Source' gossip column (pdf file)
Roxane Roberts and Amy Argetsinger: Murdoch’s China-born third wife, 42, wears many hats in his empire: mother of his two young daughters, international business adviser and now movie producer. Among the guests were Chinese ambassador Zhang Yesui and Fox’s Ed Henry. “She the boss’s wife,” Henry told us. “Gotta be nice.”

Check out the juxtaposition of the James Garner quote. Coincidence or deliberate?

  1. The Garner quote was a definite cheap shot.
Rupert can afford more expensive shots.

  2. I know whereof I speak, Jim.  The Post Style Section where the gossip column has always appeared in different incarnations over the years did it to me in 1985.  I cannot recall the issue I had but I think I complained about the story and/or photo placement of another item that, because of its proximity, made me look bad.

  3. It's hard to prove malice, even if you and the whole world are sure there is some.

  4. Yeah, NYT Malice Rule Times v Sullvan 1964.  Supreme Court overturned ruling in public figure's libel case (he won).  Supreme Court ruled public figures have to prove actual malice:  reckless disregard for the truth et al. I was a serious student of comm law undergrad and grad.
