NPR intelligentsia whine to the Huffington Post that they are not in the loop in the search for a new CEO. The job's been vacant for more than six months when Vivian Schiller was dispatched to the gulag. NBC quickly rescued Schiller, now in charge of NBC News digital.
Are NPR apparatchiks repressing information with Politburo-type secrecy? Huff Po scribe Michael Calderone seems to think so.

| Curious use of "Kremlinologists." Substitute Russia with what's become the second definition:"The study of the internal politics of any powerful and secretive organization." |
Calderone: "What NPR is ultimately looking for, sources say, might be someone who doesn't exist. The board of directors wants a candidate with ample experience in radio, digital media, and fundraising. The candidate should also have already been a CEO, but no publicly espoused political views that could provide easy fodder for NPR's critics."
I believe Calderone meant "gauging" rather than "gaging" Brokaw's interest.
Revolting NPR dissidents are demanding transparency -- glasnost -- from the nomenklatura.

I understand the corpse of Ed Murrow has refused to rule out the job.
ReplyDeleteDuring the next May Day parade thru Red Square (down Massachusetts Avenue NW), it'll be interesting to see who gets airbrushed out of the leadership photo from atop the fortress.
You don't suppose Keith O. would be interested, do you?
Out of the running. Olbermann's never served as a CEO but fired by several.
