Lead Zeppelin

Update:  Rubio responds. Politico "If The Washington Post wants to criticize me for getting a few dates wrong, I accept that. But to call into question the central and defining event of my parents’ young lives – the fact that a brutal communist dictator took control of their homeland and they were never able to return – is something I will not tolerate."

The Washington Post finds holes in Republican superstar Marco Rubio's "compelling" story on how his parents escaped "thug" Castro in the late 1950s.  Turns out they came to the U.S. a couple of years before Castro snatched power.  Wash Post

The Rubio hit piece hit the Internet just hours after Rubio criticized Obama for "leading from behind" on the Qaddafi hit. "Leading from behind" in Mediaite's words.

It was Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum who used the phrase "leading from behind."  "Sour grapes or politics as usual?" Mediaite muses in an earlier post after Rubio credited French and Brits for the op.

What Rubio actually said on Fox News: "Today's not a day to point fingers. I'm glad it's all working out. Ultimately it's about the freedom and liberty of the Libyan people. But let's give credit where credit is due. It's the French and the British that led on this fight and probably even led on the strike that led to Qaddafi's capture or to his death. . . .   He [Obama] did the right thing.  He just took too long to do it and he didn't do enough of it . . . A lot of this could've been avoided."  Examiner

The Hill's version confuses "lead" with "led":

  2. I doubt that story is enough to keep him from being the next Vice President.
