Tuba player Harry Smith was in "acute need" of a gig after CBS unceremoniously dumped him last year from "The Early Show." Smith, who has been with CBS 25 years, was rescued by NBC's new Brian Williams primetime showcase "Rock Center" debuting Halloween night 10p.
Wow! I'd never heard of the BFA, although, goodness knows, I know a slew of wonderful broadcasters in need of help. Tuba, eh? And I've heard Osgood play a pretty fair piano. So, they'll be doing--the greatest hits of Huey Lewis and the News?
Yeah, either had I. I prefer the Doobie Brothers. An aside: there are current TV news broadcasters desperately in "acute need." The one that comes to mind is CNN's cranium-free cipher Erin Burnett.
