'The president must come clean and clean house not just because it’s right. He must rebuild confidence in his government for that inevitable day when the next crisis hits the fan . . . The president’s shake-up of his own governance can’t wait, as tradition often has it, until after the next election.' NYT columnist Frank Rich calling for Obama to sink some balls.
Next election? I daresay there won't be a next Obama White House.
But if Republicans like oral gusher Joe Barton keep spouting off, Rahm Emanuel and Dems will succeed in staving off Repub wins in November.
Wash Post columnist David Broder: 'The eagerness with which Democrats pounced on the foolish comment of Rep. Joe Barton of Texas that BP had been the victim of a White House "shakedown" tells you everything you need to know about their need to change the subject from the problems confronting the Obama administration . . . While almost everyone else congratulated the president for nailing down the commitment that gave force to BP's pledge to satisfy all legitimate claims, Barton discerned in the transaction a terrible threat to the free-enterprise system, calling it a Chicago-style "shakedown." . . . Barton was the best thing that has happened to the Democrats in months. All of a sudden, they were not defending the undersea gusher they don't know how to cap; they were charging that the opposition was in bed with the corporate bad guys.'
WH chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, appearing on ABC's 'This Week,' masticated Barton's gaffe like a starving pit bull with a meaty bone:
A UK newspaper reports Emanuel will bail his WH gig in 'six to eight months.' NBC's Savannah Guthrie on Monday's 'Morning Joe' asserts the paper is about as informed as DC 'cab drivers.'
Monday Rahm rendered the UK report 'BS.'

By the way, this is a bright new look for CB, Marty!

I have noticed a lot of new blog formats going up around the blogsphere. Marty likes the magazine style - it's crisp.
It was a shakedown.
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys! If you have any suggestions about the colors etc. please let me know via email. marty@chickaboomer.com.
