I saw Franken at The Palm in DC last Tuesday night and he was correct, but hardly as open as he used to be (as in the time I wanted to chat during a break in his Air America show during a remote at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in DC, and he invited me to go take a piss with him in the men's room). Al is so determined not to pegged as a slick comic that he's got an industrial-sized broomstick up his ass, both in person and in public. The real Al sneaks out now and then, such as during some recent committee questioning, but mostly, he keeps that humor deeply buried.
This is the great SNL/Air America communicator?
