The Specter of Defeat

"If I had stayed with the obstructionist Republican caucus, I would have had no problem."  Republican turned Democrat Sen. Arlen Specter, 80, justifying his possible defeat against young buck Dem Congressman Joe Sestak in Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary.

"He wasn't thinking about saving his job. He was risking his job." PA Governor Ed Rendell.

Yeah, sure.  Specter is a prick.  Defeat couldn't happen to a bigger asshole.

Rasmussen poll: Specter is viewed Very Favorably by 12% of Pennsylvania voters, but 37% have a Very Unfavorable opinion of him.  For Sestak, Very Favorables are 15% and Very Unfavorables are 12%.

The poll shows Sestak and presumed Republican nominee Pat Toomey in a close race with Toomey running strong if old fart Specter wins the right to another Senate term.

Dems, if you want a crack at keeping that seat, vote for Sestak.

  3. I detest this guy.
    No character.
He just wants to keep his paycheck and "power". That's the only way
he can get anyone to pay attention to him.
He is one of those guys you would look right past if you met him in the street.

  4. This phony is toast.

When the Conservatives release their next "Contract with America", all of the others will be also. I just hope that they do it for the mid-terms, and not wait until 2012.

  7. Ed Rendell is a blowhard dickhead if he really believes Specter was risking rather than trying to save his sorry ass.

  9. I'm with Al! Let's have Spectre win the primary, so Obama has to come upt ot PA and campaign for him in the fall. The more losses Obama gets in his column, the better.

  10. Just got back from a weekend in PA. Couldn't help but notice that there were a few Sestak signs out on lawns but I only noticed ONE Specter sign, and that one was damaged too.

  12. Anon, 55-45 is a landslide. Latest polls (if you can believe them) show 46-46.
