NBC's Haz Matt

NBC is forced to issue a statement denying the National Enquirer Matt Lauer dicking around on wife reports after the Enquirer follows up the first cover story with another fingering the babes, including Today's Natalie Morales and Jenna Wolfe.

The allegations surrounding Matt Lauer are completely inaccurate and unfounded. These accusations are reckless and harmful to the Lauer family. Equally reckless, irresponsible and inaccurate are the accusations about his “Today” show colleagues. Matt and his wife have spoken out on this on the record and will not be discussing it further.

The Enquirer is standing by its story.  The rag went to the Netherlands to interview Matt's wife Annette's mother who confirmed the break-up.  The Enquirer has dispatched reporters to stake out Matt's NY marital abode and finds he's not there

Lauer and wife denied the Enquirer's initial expose claiming Matt had moved out after the duo got into a huge fight over Matt's dicking around at the Vancouver Olympics.

The intrepid investigators report NBC brass have forced Matt to pretend he's a happily married man because "Today" viewers are into true blue family men.

Former MSNBC GM and talking head Dan Abrams's Mediaite appears sympathetic to NBC and Lauer, even linking to a non-legal site claiming Matt could "sue for libel if the story is not true."

Tell us something we don't know.  Why didn't Abrams get his crack reporter Steve Krakauer to interview Abrams's father Floyd?  Floyd is the King of First Amendment lawyers.

Libel, my ass!  The burden of proof is on defendant Lauer to prove reckless disregard for the truth, actual malice, and irreparable harm to his reputation.

Maybe there's a fifth hour of "Today" we don't know about...

  1. Did Lauer sleep with Natalie Morales before or after she co-hosted The Marriage Ref?
Makes a huge difference to me.

  2. Jenna Wolfe?
    Jenna Wolfe?

    Jenna ... Wolfe?

I could see Rachel Maddow hitting on Jenna Wolfe, but why would she be interested in Lauer?

About libel law for public figures.
I have absolutely no idea if she's right about Matt's package.

  5. Just what I heard, Jim, and my analysis of Matt in that Olympics luge suit a few years ago.
