John Stossel At Large

"I gues he moonlights as a porn actor." Jon Stewart on Fox Business Network's John Stossel's Village People police get-up complete with billy club on Megyn Kelly's "America Live" Thursday show.

Why the costume?  To illustrate the Obama Labor Department's crackdown on unpaid interns as a favor to unions.

"My entire career has been built on unpaid interns." Fake intern police Stossel tells Megyn.

Really?

Megyn summons one of HER unpaid interns to the studio who tells Stossel she gets two college credits for her Fox News internship.

An ominous-sounding Stossel, dons his police cap and raises his billy club which seems to originate in his groin: "I'm arresting you for breaking the rules."

Watch the video.

Stossel shows up at the end of Jon Stewart's hilarious takedown of CNN's Roland Martin for wearing an ascot on the air.  Stossel figures into Stewart's bit when at the end he wonders if other networks are following desperately-seeking-ratings CNN's lead in clothing news talent in costumes.

Katie Couric started it all by showing up in a schoolgirl jumper (a fave of porn sites and strippers) on her first day as "CBS Evening News" eanchoress.

The only man I knew who wore an  ascot was the father of my brother's then-girlfriend he'd met in the mid-1970s where both were assigned to West Africa in the Peace Corp.  Angus Thuermer.  A CIA agent who specialized in exfil during the Cold War.  Rich horse country Middleburg resident Thuermer showed up at my humble abode in Falls Church , Virginia in 1980-81 sporting an ascot to pick up his daughter Kitty.   His obit is in Sunday's Washington Post.

  1. Kim Kardashian has an ascot, since it won't fit in the same cot with the rest of her.
