How To Save CNN

And it ain't "Crossfire."

"They're in deep talks."  An unnamed source to NY mag on combining CBS News and CNN news operations to cut costs and expand reach.  CBS needs cable and CNN needs the Second Coming of Jesus.  NYT's Bill Carter

Jeff Bercovici is nicer than me. "Could the ratings have convinced Time Warner's management to take a more accommodating negotiating stance to avoid the possibility of bargaining with less leverage in a year or two?"

Other networks have come a-courtin' over the years but CNN was much younger and prettier then, and able to hold out for the most handsome suitor.  But now.  CNN's the spinster with no chance of marriage.
