Friday Law & Order creator Dick Wolf quoted Henry Ford II on the cancellation of NBC's "mothership" after 20 years: "Never complain, never explain." The NYT's Brian Stelter and Bill Carter attributed the quote to Henry Ford.
Henry Ford II took lifelong credit for that quote which he stole from former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. What Disraeli actually said was: "Never complain and never explain."
The "mothership" moves to L.A. with "Law & Order Los Angeles" or LOLA.
NYT: "Dropping of Law & Order Leaves Hole In Economy": Katherine Oliver, the commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting, said that every year the show provided jobs to about 4,000 people, including one-day acting roles. Its spending totaled about $79 million annually, she said, including things like coffee and bagels, boom microphones and duct tape. During its 20-year run, that impact amounted to as much as $1 billion or more,
“We spent an enormous amount of money in Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys, dressing the lawyers,” said Leslie Yarmo, a former costume designer for a spinoff, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Law and Order: Los Angeles?
ReplyDeleteWhat's next? A spinoff about meter maids called "Law and Order SUV"?
Will they take a cue from CSI and use Kinks music for their theme?
ReplyDeletethey should not have gone political and many of their stories were actual events that happened and already knew how it would end and I would just not watch, hated when they would drop gop names and in a negative way, liked to watch when it was just a normal good story.
