Twitter Beats Dan Rather Like A Rented Mule
Former CBS News anchorman Dan Rather spends wastes 13 paragraphs in the Huffington Post explaining his Obama MSNBC Chris Matthews watermelon comment. 1. Twitter. 2. "I was talking about Obama and health care and I used the analogy of selling watermelons by the side of the road. It's an expression that stretches to my boyhood roots in Southeast Texas, when country highways were lined with stands manned by sellers of all races. Now of course watermelons have become a stereotype for African Americans and so my analogy entered a charged environment. I'm sorry people took offense."

It seems unlikely he made a misspeak doesn't it? Lefties really think that everyone thinks like them? Dan Rather just projecting.

ReplyDeleteThanks Dan. It's nice to know that, in your youth, no newspaper EVER ran a picture of a darkie with a huge smile chomping away on a watermelon, with the caption, "SUMMER'S HERE!". No indeed, in Dan's part of south Texas, that stereotype never existed in the 30's.
ReplyDeleteI recall when the late Senator Barry Goldwater told an off-color joke in a mixed crowd at a military do in NYC. I was there. The joke included the word "pussy."
