Senator Ed Schultz?

MSNBC's Chris Jansing teased "The Ed Show's" Ed Schultz as a possible candidate for retiring North Dakota Dem Sen. Byron Dorgan's seat.  Dorgan - a longtime critic of media consolidation - shocked the poltical world with this.   Jansing left viewers hanging until the end of the segment.

Ed:  "Last night when Senator Dorgan was talking to me he asked me how old I was.  I said, uh, oh.  This morning I got a call from [didn't catch the name, and he asked me to run for the Senate from the state of North Dakota... I'm definitely flattered and honored... I'm a long way from that."

Ed spent what seemed an interminable time crawling up Dorgan's ass and then wove his Big Announcement around how hard he'd worked in his career to get where he is today in broadcasting.  Fargo, ND to DC and beyond on TV...

Ed has Dorgan on his show at 6p tonight.

Before relocating to DC, Ed did his radio show from North Dakota.

Run, Ed, run!  Anything to get the liberal advocate blowhard off the air. Ed:  "Byron Dorgan's leaving the Senate is  a huge loss for the Democrats... I spoke to Byron last night... it's a tough call for him.  He's 67 years old...  I think Byron Dorgan would be a great Cabinet member for President Obama."

Double digit poll-challenged corrupt Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd won't run in 2010.  The five-term chairman of the Senate Banking Committee announces his retirement at noon today after falling on Obama's sword (and his own).  Now I can tell the 1980s tape eavesdrop on Dodd getting a blow job under his Senate desk - courtesy of a intelligence community contact.  GEe, Jeff Immelt lives in Connecticut...  maybe he should run...

Senate's 60 vote majority down two.

  1. Down 2? No. There is only a possibility that Dems will lose Dorgan's seat in ND (which they would have maintained had he decided to run for re-election). Connecticut will likely be represented by AG Richard Blumenthal (Democrat).

  2. GOP congressman Castle is looking so strong in Delaware that Beau Biden may chicken out and not run. The dem guv of Tennessee--a rising star in the party--won't seek reelection. Not good signs. On the other hand, former Tenn congressman Harold Ford is considering a senate run....in his newly adopted home state of New York.

  3. Well, two Dems bail as of this moment. Sorry for not clarifying.

  4. I am feeling uneasy about this when I remember that Al Franken
    was actually elected.
Ed talks big but performs small.

  5. Correction: The dem guv of Colorado, Bill Ritter, is not running for reelection.
