Anderson Cooper and CNN, listen up. Once again the Society of Professional Journalists is urging you (and others trying to make a name for themselves off the misery of others) to back off injecting yourself into Haiti earthquake aftermath news coverage (and telethons): "Advocacy, self promotion, offering favors for news and interviews, injecting oneself into the story or creating news events for coverage is not objective reporting, and it ultimately calls into question the ability of a journalist to be independent, which can damage credibility."

I'm a long time SPJ member and I'll go down fighting with their view. But "go down" are the operative words. This, coupled with the imminent death ofnewspapers means professional, objective journalism is about to be dead dead dead.
