iMSNBC's "Morning Joe" host Mika Brzezinski's Rx for broadcast journalism: "I will say what people aren't saying, it's got a liberal world view. There are great people working at the networks and they are mostly Democrats. They try really hard to be objective and they do a great job at it but the balance is not there within the objective mainstream media...there needs to be a whole new phase and push for transparency and that will cut through these extremes we're seeing. The reason why we've got these extremes is a reaction to the objective mainstream media that is so not objective when you have most of them being Democrats or liberals running it, okay. That's why we have Fox. Because it wasn't honest and there was a reaction out there to this. What I'm saying is let's pull it all together and let's start from a base of honesty and then work toward fairness and objectivity...and maybe we'll cut against the polarizing extremes we're seeing on television that are drawing people and galvanizing them in ways that are not all constructive."
Has Mika been vacationing at Walden Pond? While you're at it, fire Nielsen and TV news ratings.
Mika takes a shot at Glenn Beck and Keith Olbermann (at least that's how I intepret it), referring to "the cartoonish characters on the right and the left:

Because in the land of journalism, it's all about fairness and unicorns.
ReplyDeleteIt's days or I should say quotes like this that makes me wonder why did I got a journalism degree.
Yeah, I got a B.A. and M.A. in journalism...
ReplyDelete.. and she's a BMF, besides.
ReplyDeleteO'Reilly gave Mika the "patriot" tag tonight.
The democrat shills are finally realizing that unfair reporting equals low ratings, which then means that they will be fired soon and looking for work.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me that they couldn't figure this out sooner.
Mika is wrong. Nice lady and smart but on this one, she's in LaLa Land.
ReplyDeleteA reporter is supposed to tell the story---not how he/she feels about the story. If you do that, then you'd have to become a talk show host on a cable channel....like Mika.
Mika Brzezinski didn't advocate reporters telling us their opinions on stories. She is advocating that reporters put their biases on the table so consumers of their product can make their own determination. In other words, "honesty is the best policy."
