Conan goes out in a blaze of fury and humor; his last night Friday January 22. Had he been this hilarious all along I would've watched him. As for NBC, the network doth protest too much, me thinks, about Conan's NBC trashing. The outgoing "Tonight" show host's ratings are killing both Letterman and Leno, NBC just doesn't want Conan blowing steam to OTHER media outlets after tonight.
Under the Conan/NBC $45 mil golden parachute Conan's not supposed to pluck the Peacock Network's feathers. But that's like MSNBC demanding blowhard Keith Olbermann give Republicans an even shake. NYT's Bill Carter reports Conan's deal forbids him from doing interviews from now until sometime after Jay's March 1 debut. NBC retains the rights to Conan-created characters and bits, including the Bugatti Veyron Mouse last night at a cost of $1.5 mil - to NBC. The one-minute of the royalty-rich Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" music bed was more expensive than the ride which cost nothing. Watch the vid that NBC wasted no time banishing from the Internet to avoid rebroadcast fees. [The Bugatti was loaned to Conan.]
Conan's beached until September 1.
Buried in Conan's exit deal with NBC: "I have to watch at least one NBC show each weeknight in order to double the ratings... I must stop production on my NBC documentary expose "Inside The 'Cock'":

Robin Willimas was pretty hilarious too.
ReplyDeleteAndy Richter is funny now, too!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw Robin's Irish dance thing w/Conan. Laughed my ass off!
