CNN's Wolf Blitzer teases this vid of Anderson Cooper scooping up a bloody Haitian kid and carrying him off to safety from a gaggle of looters as "very graphic and disturbing." Wolf: "Young people, perhaps, shouldn't see this video. Once again a warning, the video may be difficult to watch. You may want your kids to leave the room."
What's wrong with kids seeing the aftermath of REAL violence and not movie and TV fake blood and gore to which they've become inured?
CNN's catching a lot of heat for veering into entertainment. Monday night Larry King did a two-hour TV fundraiser for Haiti victims. Anderson Cooper is one of three hosts of George Clooney's telethon that airs next week on all the major networks. Should CNN divide the network into two clear divisions to blunt the criticism? News and entertainment?
God bless Anderson!
ReplyDeleteI agree but I'd rather CNN had not televised his heroics...
ReplyDeleteIn the best of all possible worlds CNN would make such an entertainment-news split, but they're only surviving by obliterating the difference. And the public eats it up.
