There was a story on 20-20 back when Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters hosted the show, and Stossel was just a correspondent. I believe they looked at a country music singer who, himself, stuttered horribly except while singing and advances that were being made to treat the disorder. During the discussion at the end of the piece, Stossel talked about his own ongoing troubles with stuttering.
It's one thing to face your foibes and fears head on, but the guy has to have some balls to choose an on-camera career while teaching himself how to manage stuttering.

I agree, Al. I did the same thing. But it wasn't as bad. I had to get rid of a lisp.
ReplyDeleteMel Tillis is the country singer.
ReplyDeleteFYI, you can see if you can make John stutter Mon nite 12/7, 10-11PM ET, at 1-866-50-JIMBO on the Jim Bohannon Show.
Mel Tillis, yes. I'll be listening and Leno will get DVR'd.
ReplyDeleteHe's been stuttering ever since that pro wrestler smacked him around.
