Out of pocket for the rest of the day. In Charleston, SC to help my daughter in her breach of contract lawsuit against her former tenants who bolted three months into a two-year lease and maliciously destroyed her pristine brand-new $250,000 home.
Financial issues forced my daughter and son-in-law to leave Los Angeles where they'd rented a pricey downtown apartment and return after just three months. My son-in-law is a film and video editor and had a great job at a post-production house in Santa Monica.
I filed the lawsuit in October myself to save them legal fees. I'm not arguing the case but we are meeting with a lawyer this afternoon to represent them in court.
Chickaboomer will return maybe tonight! A good hump day to all!
This is what these sociopaths did to the carpet (which once was cream-colored Berber) in three months with banned by the lease pets: urine stains, fleas, lice. Flea bombs didn't work. Not even professional exterminators were able to eradiate all the pests.
The perps painted 90% of the walls and poorly. Verboten according to the lease.
And that's just for starters.... My lawsuit asks for $30,000 in rent to fulfil the breached contract; actual and punitive damages.
Too much P&S for 26 and 32-year-old responsible, law-abiding, conservative young adults.
Thanks to CB's Sam Spade - the intrepid PI Joseph Culligan of Web of Deception for tracking down the perps and acquiring everything but their underwear sizes!

Go get'em, Marty!
ReplyDeleteYeah! What he said!
ReplyDeleteOne of my greatest "awakenings" occured when I realized that people are not as I thought they were. I lived in some kind of dreamworld.
ReplyDeleteThey are not honorable, honest, or trust worthy. I hate to be such a doubter and prophet of doom but life has tought me some lessons.
I am sorry, Marty.
Having lived the Hell that comes with the title "Landlord" I can fully sympathize. For 5 LONG years i tried to maintai a couple of houses that were in great shape only to be practivally dismantled each time someone moved out. Don't know what good a lawsuit will accomplish. Many of these folks don't keep enough equity in their lives to fill a thimble.
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
Like I always tell my daughters and son when they have to go thru something like this, just PRAY, it will all work itself out, they will be fine Marty, for one thing they are conservatives and those bandits must have been some kooks from the likes of daily kos. Tell your daughter how blessed she is to have a mother like you to be there, that is awesome. Missed seeing your great news here, check back later,
ReplyDeleteforgot to say marty, would never believe you had a daughter this age, I was so surprised.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for your daughter and SIL. Good luck with the lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteSince your chances of recouping are slim -- I will cut you in on my latest business venture....selling bumper stickers that say:
Ladies: Honk If You Are Humping Tiger.
Cara, most people are honourable, honest, and trustworthy. But with so many people in only takes a teensy percentage to add up to a whole lot of scumbags.
ReplyDeleteThat's what courts are for and I hope ChickieBoo's kids are made whole.
And if the lawsuit fails, Chickaboomer knows how to handle weapons...
ReplyDeleteThanks, guys, and Sandra and Cara!
ReplyDeleteI probably won't get the back rent because they are back in the house but damages for sure!
I told the lawyer whom I think is really cool - NJ guy, Howard Law -
that my living in Witness Protection Program Land has introduced me to thugs like the former head of the NJ faction of the Lucchese crime family who lives nearby me. Anthony Accetturo. The old guy (71 and cute in that thug sort of way- I saw him in his restaurant and he was eating me alive with his eyes), has a restaurant and real estate in NC. Here's the book on him and his gang. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Boys-from-New-Jersey/Robert-Rudolph/e/9780813521541
Tony "Tumac" Accetturo bio here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Accetturo
I'll have to try to get this book, I love these kinds of books. exciting neighbors, glad your back.
