Cop's Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire

Tempers are flaring in Washington, DC hit with that massive snowfall (I'm a day late and a fistful of dollars short cooling my jets in a downtown DC hotel after getting stuck here following Friday's appearance on "The Jim Bohannon Show.")

A testy DC plainclothes police officer found the only way to stop a gang of snowballers pelting him was to wave his gun.  Detective Baylor caught himself a police department internal investigation:

Monday update:  I was listening to DC's WTOP Radio as I was dodging bad drivers on my way back to Witness Protection Program Land and I heard that the officer had responded to a 911 call in the dicey area of 14th and U where a gang of 200 were throwing snowballs.  Wash Post has more today.

As for me, I made it here after a 10-hour drive that should've taken 5 1/2.  I-81 was the worst mess I've ever witnessed.  Even in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where they know how to drive in snow.  VA had put sand on the freeway and it had randomly globbed with the ice. For 20 miles maybe more it was like driving over dead bodies.

I got to NC to find out my driveway was isnow socked so I stayed overnight in the only motel in town.  At 8a I was at Farmer's Hardware where I bought a pair of $15 rubber boots about five sizes too big so I could walk down my lonnnnnng driveway covered with like two feet of snow.  I'm in!

  3. Uh Marty - I can tell you have not lived in the DC area for a while...U and 14th is not dicey at all these days. actually its pretty primo real estate these days. Ten to 15 years ago this was a nogo zone full of dealers and hookers. Today its a very much different story. Get Mr. Chickaboomer to take you to al Corstini on U. Pretty great stuff.
