TV news maven Richard Huff NYDN: "When will news people stop interviewing puppets?"
Thursday night Anderson Cooper wrapped up his show with 4 minutes and 16 seconds of Oscar the Grouch. Watch here (scroll to bottom).
Oscar didn't trash Fox [Pox]News (watch here) but Anderson trashed Dan Rather. Oscar's got a news show with a correpondent named Dan Rather Not.
Anderson: "He's [the real Dan] very difficult to work with. I worked with him. It was tough."
But under Dan's exacting journalistic standards tutelage Anderson was fully prepared to grill Oscar.

I was surprised that it was Oscar the Grouch that went on Anderson Cooper's show. I expected he would have hooked up with Bert and Ernie and the three could have gone out to bar afterward.
No, Anderson was fully prepared to blow Oscar.
Cooper wasn't trashing Dan Rather. He was talking about having worked with the muppet Dan Rather-not, not saying that he'd ever worked with Dan Rather. Cooper did a Sesame Street skit where he reported for the Grouch News Network with a bunch of grouches. All the grouch reporters had negative "grouch versions" of actual reporters names. Liberals didn't whine about that, though, unlike the right wing bloggers who whined and cried about FOX being given the same kind of negative "grouch make over" to make it part of the grouch world (at the same time as bizarrely also crying over the fact none of FOX's reporters had been among the ones given negative grouch names in the skit with Cooper).
Dear Anon: I heard it like he was talking about the real Dan Rather. Let me listen to it again. I'll correct it. I'm sorry.
Anonymous is correct. He was referring to Dan Rather-not and the prior Sesame Street segment he did.
