Memo to Maureen Dowd and Howard Kurtz: David Letterman married Regina Lasko in March after 23 tortuous years waiting for the man as he dicked around with nubile upwardly mobile vixens. Lasko snatched Letterman from the arms of another staffer, Merrill Markoe. Letterman's relationships with both women overlapped in the mid-ure 1980s and Merrill was out of the picture in 1988.

David Letterman was married in March and still dicking around with Stephanie Birkitt.

Maureen Dowd dismissed "jester (unmarried at the time)" Letterman's quid pro quo work environment.

CNN "Reliable Sources" and Wash Po media maven Howard Kurtz picks up Dowd's quote today to justify Letterman's indiscretions.

Kurtz segues into a riff on Nevada Repub Sen. John Ensign's adultery and wonders why the media have lost interest.

Political sex scandals are so...  common.
