Juan In A Million: A Real Man

I simply ADORE Juan Williams as Bill O'Reilly's understudy.  I watched with fascination the first time I saw him sit in a couple of weeks ago. Juan is just so cute!  I know that sounds crazy but I love his voice and delivery.  There's just something about Juan that strikes my fancy now that he's hosting. The NPR reporter's liberal politics seemed to have softened as well as his on-air persona.

Funny.  You take the liberals away from their zealotry and like magic they lose their unattractive clenched jaws, dour facial expressions, and sour on-air presence.  Even when Juan yells he's lovable.

The newly-delicious Juan takes up where Rush Limbaugh left off in his Friday WSJ piece on how his foes successfully played the race card in Limbaugh's losing battle to become an NFL team owner.

  1. I do like his independent thinking. At least on matters racial. And his books on the civil rights movement and Thurgood Marshall* (one of my heroes) are solid.

But he's too "robotic" hosting O'Reilly's show.

*Reading about Marshall riding the circuit in the South, all alone, travelling from town to town - never sure whether the Klan would be waiting for him at the next stop - to represent poor black defendants is deeply moving. That's heroism folks.

  2. I saw the original debate when Warren told him to "get back up on the porch". I had to do a doubletake, I couldn't believe he said that to him. It was right at the fade out so Juan couldn't reply then, but his reply in the Talking Points Memo the following night was excellent. He was pissed, you could see it in his eyes. He's a lefty, but one I can admire while I disagree with him because he's fair.

  3. Juan is a solid journalist. If he can keep that suppressed, he'll do just fine.

  4. Well, he wasn't robotic the first time I saw him. He was charming, engaging, and full of personality. I hope Fox didn't try to screw with his natural personality.
