Truthers?

Politico's Mike Allen praises this as a "cool new independent website the West Wing is reading." Truth About Health Care Reform

The anonymous participants: TruthAboutHealthCareReform.org has been the result of a collaborative effort between numerous people of different backgrounds: students, doctors, authors, as well as policy and non-profit professionals. Initially, we found it extremely challenging to understand the current state of the our health care system, as well as the proposed reforms.

We found that the overwhelming amount of information, complex language, and the political spin all stood in the way of a true understanding. We, as the founders of this website, firmly believe that with clearly presented, objective facts about the US health care system and its proposed reforms, everyone is capable of deciding where they stand on the ongoing health care debate.

Therefore, we decided to create TruthAboutHealthCareReform.org in order to provide the public with a simple (but not simplistic), comprehensive overview of the US health care system and the proposed reforms, free from academic debate, rhetoric, and partisan politics. In order to avoid any undue influence, we, as the founders, have funded this website ourselves and have made a commitment not to accept any sponsorships or contributions – corporate, public, or otherwise – for developing and maintaining this website.

The Mission of the "concerned citizens":  The mission of TruthAboutHealthCareReform.org is to clearly present the facts about proposed health care reforms and their potential impact.

Undoubtedly, health care reform is a complicated issue. A recent poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation found that many Americans felt “frustrated” (57%) and “confused” (46%) about health care reform.

As concerned citizens, we have decided to navigate through the complexities - as well as the political spin from all sides.

What's your take?

  1. I looked at the site. It appears to be an amalgam of CBO reports and currently active legislative bills. It does not include a discussion on tort reform, spending on illegal alien immigrants, spending on abortions, or any of the Republican proposals for health insurance reform.

I believe it is a Democrat tool - one that appears comprehensive and unbiased, and factual (they have references for all the information they actually include), but in reality, it demonstrates bias by omission.

Further, nowhere on the site does it identify the owners/operators of the site, nor even their specific professions. There is just some vague descriptor that they are "students, doctors, authors, as well as policy and non-profit professionals".

I wouldn't be surprised if this were a product of Health Care for America Now.

  3. Good luck. The owners have hidden their identity through Go Daddy's "Domains by Proxy". It was registered on August 21st.
