David Hinckley NYDN: Even if Leno gets acceptable ratings, said Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment president, the show could still backfire on NBC.
"Jay is going to have success," said Reilly. "[But] the show has always tapered off in the second half. What does that do to the news hour? What does that do to the news lead-ins? You look at the overall ratings impact."
I don't know about you, but I'll be glued to the tube at 10p September 14th.

I think Leno will be a huge success at 10:00 and I am not a Leno fan. Most adults have no reason to watch the networks at 10:00, now they will have an alternative to prime time soap operas.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Carson should have done that decades ago.
Carson will in his next lifetime. His epitaph: "I'll be back..."
ReplyDeleteI'm a Leno fan and I think he'll do...OK. Leno said upfront that they're aware of his end-of-show tailoff and plan to alter the format to keep that from happening at 10PM. In the meantime, there's always the Jim Bohannon Show, weeknights, 10PM-1AM ET.
