I patently disagree with the widely heralded Glenn Greenwald Salon piece on the Olbermann/O'Reilly feud "deal" brokered in May and supposedly enacted in June to end the on-air attacks hurting MSNBC's parent company GE and News Corp. to a lesser extent.
Greenwald is whining about corporate censorship in silencing Olbermann "So here we have yet another example -- perhaps the most glaring yet -- of the corporations that own our largest media outlets controlling and censoring the content of their news organizations based on the unrelated interests of the parent corporation."
Unrelated interests? Instigator Olbermann's nightly drumbeat of anti-Bill O'Reilly and Fox rants propelled O'Reilly's GE exposes and rants, threatening GE's image.
The left wing blogosphere, failling into line behind Salon's Greenfield, is pissed that "secret shamless sleaze" Richard Wolffe - ex-Newsweek - is permitted to appear and subsitute host for Keith Olbermann.

And what's this about PBS's Charlie Rose facilitating the deal at the Bill Gates CEO get-together in May? Moderating, if you will, the contretemps between Rupert Murdoch and Jeff Immelt. The last time I saw Charlie (at lunch in DC in the 1990s) he was so drunk and alarmingly disheveled (shirt cuffs unbuttoned, red-rimmed eyes, thick tongue) when he stumbled in the restaurant, and continued drinking (wine) before shooting a piece for CNBC.
He couldn't facilitate his own existence (and to be fair, neither could I for the same reason at that time). Capricorn (like me) Charlie was so bombed he couldn't cut a usable stand-up for the CNBC now MSNBC producer (who shall go unnamed).
Olbermann is now irrelevant. he played the Bill O'Reilly card so many times it was either throw a brick thru my TV or shut him off. i shut him off

A man so full of himself that he feels the compulsion to bring his personal vendetta against Bill-O into our living rooms on a continual basis. As if we could possibly share his daily enthusiasm for what has become at best mundane and at worst audience abuse.
