"Artist" David Combs on his "Notorious P.A.B.": "I dont [sic]think of myself as a painter, more of a conduit to a world beyond. So when I awoke in a puddle of my own sweat with this vision of Patti Ann Browne burned in my mind I knew that I had to show the world. And more than that... I had to put it on eBay. Half of the final selling price will be donated to the independent journalist Michael Yon. The other half I will use on my various addictions and obsessions."
The bidding started out at a penny. 26 bids and the price is up to $247.50. He's also selling two fishing rods and a 9 DVD "Twilight Zone" set described as "RARE HORROR."
One overzealous commenter gushed: "Wow. He really ... nailed the ... ESSENCE of (Patti Ann Browne). I mean, the decapitated men especially. It's like Francis Bacon, only with midget aliens and Nancy Sinatra boots ;)"
You think?

I don't know - the painting is not so crazy. I must admit that I'm far more likely to watch or record Red Eye when I know PAB is gonna be on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the plug, sir! Everyone's been going crazy about the painting and I'm like - I got two fishing rods on there with no bids, people! And that DVD set - you know you aren't gonna find that anywhere. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteThis painting is the alter ego of Patti Ann Brown, "The Notorious PAB" from Red Eye. I might agree if the artist was just decapitating people and unicorns for no reason. I'm sure the shows fans love it!! Patti Ann even left this post on her Facebook page: "OMG! He made me tall, thin and young. Thanks David. I'm so flattered. The heads of Greg, Bill and Andy are a nice touch." Arts value is in the eye of the beholder and with the auction up to 36 bids and over $300, I'd say the fans value this piece quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteMr Combs: Now that you gained notoriety on the PAB fan sites you can likely expect an invite from Mr. Gutfeld. Not for the show, of course, unless by "show" you mean what happens in his basement once you find the light switch.
ReplyDeleteTo PAB fans: May I express my ignorance I had no idea Patti appeared on "Red Eye."
ReplyDeleteHey, I'll admit it. Let me check out Patti's Facebook.
My apologies to Patti and her fans.
And let me also apologize. I called you 'sir' and you are obviously a fetching example of femininity. Was not intended as a dig. Now buy my fishing rods!
ReplyDeleteMarty, I think you should appear on Red Eye. I think you be great on the show...
ReplyDeleteIs this "Red Eye for the Queer Guy"?
ReplyDeleteYou're dirty, Jim. ZD, if they ask me I'll serve. Thanks for your vote of confidence!
ReplyDeleteI'm Patti Ann Browne's evil twin on steroids...
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty amazing, Marty. You checked out his other ebay listings, you quote the bulk of the description, and yet some how you missed that PAB is on Red Eye? The top says, "Fan of Fox New's RED EYE?", he provided a youtube link of PAB on Red Eye, and there's a quote from Patti Ann Browne herself.
ReplyDeleteBut let's create a snarky post about a talented artist (not "artist") who was obviously having a bit of fun, and donating a lion's share of his profits to one of the best war journalists working today. That's the guy we want to call a "weird stalker." Maybe you owe him an apology, you think?
Hey Anon, Ms. Browne had a message for you: http://activitypit.ning.com/video/please-do-not-send-pab-penis
ReplyDeleteYeah, I owe him an apology. I'm sorry. I have selective memory. The Red Eye thing didn't sink in as I was overzealous in my quest to find out more about the artist. I'll take out the weird stalker.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read ChickieBoo's post I just assumed the "stalker" part was meant in true "Red Eye" style tongue-in-cheek fashion.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was, Al, but someone took me seriously.
