Olbermann: No Deal

MSNBC blowhard Keith Olbermann's response to the Immelt/Murdoch summit dialing down the noise between Olbermann and FOX's Bill O'Reilly? "I am party to no deal."

A vacationing Olbermann responded to NYT's Brian Stelter via email in a must-read piece today
with the backstory.

Will Olbermann come back from vacation with a roar?  The boy can't help himself.  Ego and serious pathology.

Inside Cable News beat Stelter to the punch June 7th and has all the inside dopeThis is what ICN was hearing before the shit hit the fan.

Now others are jumping on it.  I just can't get into the inside baseball. Olbermann offended Republicans at their presidential convention nearly a year ago and was recalled to HQ after angry Republicans started chanting anti-NBC rants picked up by TV.  The seminal moment came when some GE shareholders raised the issue at a subsequent shareholders' meeting.  Duh.  It's all about corporate image.

Allowing rogue Olbermann to rant with inappropriate impunity has bitten MSNBC, NBC, and GE in the ass. Olbermann instigated the on-air sniping, not Bill O'Reilly and FOX News.  A shrewd O'Reilly (and FOX)  bypassed Olbermann and hit where it REALLY hurt:  NBC's parent company GE and Immelt.

Anyone recall Olbermann's first O'Reilly strafe after he was awarded in the 8p slot in 2003?

  1. Maybe Keith needs a cap and trade arrangement. Give him a maximum amount of spleen to vent, then he's got to pay for any beyond that.

  2. Ha! You got to hand it to FOX. O'Reilly's anti-GE rants on his #1 cable news show hit Immelt in the balls big time.

  4. to bad KO returns on Monday-I actually enjoyed 2 weeks of no Olbermann, however his guests hosts were unwatchable (I tuned in for a few minutes and had to change the channel)

  5. Olbermann is like the loud mouth, wise ass gunslinger who comes into town to challenge the sheriff. When the sheriff is that good and popular, usually the gunslinger ends up on Boot Hill. This town is only big enough for one 8:00 time slot star and it isn't Keith the Kid.

He needs to watch his back. In KO's case, let him get shot.
