Obama wants to relax in his 28-acre beachfront rental that usually goes for 50 grand a week.
Burning questions. Will Obama visit Teddy Kennedy (to persuade him to resign as a Boston Globe columnist suggests.) Will the Obamas attend Chelsea Clinton's under-the-radar wedding?
Hmmm...wonder why he didn't vacay in Michigan? Seems they could use the economic benefit of a presidential visit more than Martha's Vineyard. Mackinaw Island, Traverse City, etc. Lot's of less extravagent places to hang out.

ReplyDeleteWith the genuine specter of another, and possibly more successful, terrorist attack, every governor needs the power to make interim appointments to both the senate and the house. To minimize politics in such a time of genuine tragedy, the rule should mandate that any such gubernatorial appointments follow existing party lines.

What does any of the free-market capitalism have to do with Obama as regards criticism of him? He's not responsible for it. And has anyone asked exactly how much he's paying for the vacation residence? IF ANYTHING? Could be donated by a fan, y'know? Enquiring minds want to know.
ReplyDeleteLast week the papers reported that the beachfront rental usually went for $25,000 per week, which is what Obama is paying. Next week, I'm sure the "going rate" will be reported at $100,000. Isn't it up to the property owner to set the rental rate? If the owner feels appropriately compensated, why does anyone else care? Besides, don't you think it has occurred to the owner that he can charge even more once he can claim that "the President slept here"?
