Washington Post-gate: Pay To Play

The Washington Post scam conning influence peddlers to pay big bucks for access to Post reporters and newsmakers was more orchestrated than newspaper publisher Katharine Weymouth (right) leads you to believe.  Politico, which broke the embarrassing pay-to-play scandal, unearths a detailed, rather disgustingly commercial enticement to lure "underwriters" that goes far beyond a hasty promotional flier sent by a new marketing director.

A carefully planned precursor to a hastily planned flyer? I've come to accept that newspapers are going down. I just wish they'd go down honorably.
