Joan Baez: Where Are You Now, My Son?

Death has Robert McNamera'd Robert McNamara into submission. "A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara'd Into Submission)" Paul Simon 1965.

McNamera was Kennedy's and LBJ's SecDef from 1961-68 and Vietnam was his nightmare. McNamera was every draft age guy's one-man death sentence.

McNamera was 93.

I have to thank Mr McNamera. He made (forced) me to get my college education. It sticks in my mind that a long time after the war and its descruction, he finally realized it was all for naught. I realized it at age 18.

It's the first time in my life I ever heard that someone was dead and immediately thought "Good."

McNamara's been destined to Dante's ring of hell full of Charlies where he is forced to abandon conventional warfare for hiding in tunnels.

My father was a veteran of Vietnam (USAF stationed in Da Nang 1965) and everytime that fellows name was mentioned he would blurt out some cuss-words. Strange how a man so seemingly & universally disliked could live on for so long...

When Ted "Crash" Kennedy killed Mary Jo Kopeckne at Martha's Vineyard. Kennedy assembled a damage control team and Robert McNamara was part of that team.

He was allowed to live so long so he could fully appreciate all the suffering he helped cause. I'm sure it was Hell on earth knowing he helped fuck up an entire generation.

Don't forget the other Whiz Kids who helped him fuck it all up...
