White House old hand Helen Thomas has never seen anything like the control over events at the hands of the promised "transparent" Obama White House.
Last week Obama was accused of calling on a "ringer" reporter from the Huffington Post and today it was seeminly planted questions posed at a health care "town hall" meeting at a community college in Annandale, Virgina a few miles from the WH. Press Secretary Robert Gibbs unsuccessfully tried to employ his usual condescension, minimizing, and diverting tactics to shut up CBS News WH correspondent Chip Reid. Then Helen Thomas piped up:

She and Reid really double teamed Gibbs.
Me too Grandpa D. That's the first time I've liked that old battle axe. I think this press corps is starting to see that they are being used by this fraud.

On "Morning Joe" the crew lamented Helen and Chip wading into this mess and making the press look bad. Events are always orchestrated, sez Joe. These questions and questioners don't just materialize...
Methinks Joe's been on MSNBC too long. While I'm at it, I used to really enjoy Morning Joe. Of late, the show has taken a chatty turn I find annoying and difficult to watch. In the immortal words of Elvis: A little less conversation, a little more action.
Way to go Helen and Chip. Thye at least are beginning to wake up. What about the rest of the press lap dogs in the room? I guess these two were speaking a new language unknown to the rest of the Obama Press Corps.
Obama thinks you’re stupid-
he thinks everyone is as stupid as the people that voted for him.
He makes the loosest, most general statements possible, to attempt to imply that Bush is responsible for all the rampant spending because it started under him.
He lies and changes his story at-will on everything from his cabinet’s ethics to whether or not he ever met with Blago to discuss his senate seat, meanwhile the press is occupied with stories on his puppy vetting process and how Barack likes to play basketball.
And Obama could care less if you catch him lying or flip-flopping too, he just changes the subject and moves right-on-along.
Obama wants the state to be your mother and father- and it’s his right to lie to you if he wishes… just like your parents when you were five.
Government will be one you come to for money, ask permission when you want to think or speak, and who handles all your finances for you since of course you can’t be trusted.

Nobody in the press corps is more supportive of what Obama's doing than Helen. When SHE turns on him, that should tell Gibbs and the other shills something. Helen is not the most pleasant woman on the planet (I know from first hand private dealings) but she's fierce in defense of a free press.
