NBC's Ben Silverman: Drama Queen

NBC entertainment co-czar Ben Silverman magically appears on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" in the prime 8a hour to pimp NBC's new prime-time lineup!

"It is the best comedy!" gushes Silverman about the aptly named "30 Rock."

Jesus, Silverman, shut the F up! Four minutes already of cross-promotion. Just don't laugh, okay?

NBC is putting all its eggs in Jay Leno's 10p basket. Bill Carter NYT: Much of NBC’s plan revolves around Jay Leno and his new 10 p.m. weeknight comedy show. NBC executives promoted it as “advertiser friendly” (he is expected to regularly do live commercials in the show) and “DVR proof.” NBC hopes Mr. Leno’s topical comedy will keep people watching it live every night instead of recording it, as viewers are increasingly doing with prime-time shows. The network announced that it would add at least four new dramas and two new comedies to its lineup, although some may not appear until winter. Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment, said NBC was able to be especially selective this season, thanks to the five-hour block being filled by Mr. Leno.

Joe to Silverman: "How do you monetize?"

Silverman spins the boffo ratings Jay Leno got when Barack Obama appeared as president: "I'm actually in New York today to meet with advertisers."

So THAT'S why TV's late night comedians are laying off Obama: ratings = advertisers = $$$$$.

Silverman pimped for eight precious minutes... During MSNBC's NBC infomercial Idreamed I heard Silverman utter Jeff Zucker's predecessor's name. Bob Wright. More than once. What's Ben inhaling these days?
