Michelle Obama's Shoe Bomb

What was she thinking? Michelle Obama volunteers at a DC food bank sporting $540 Lanvin (French) running shoes and doesn't think anyone'll notice?

The WH spin: They're just shoes...

Do we have a budding Imelda Marcos?

  1. Another case of what this administration has delivered so far:
Do as I say, and not as I do.

  2. Hey---she could have gotten them at Filene's, or Loehman's...or they could be cheap knock=offs.
Frankly, I'm just surprised that they're NOT high-tops.

And--woe--nelly! Who told first ladies that they're not allowed to enjoy the cloths that they buy with their own money! For Pete's sake.

  3. My point exactly. Had Laura Bush put on these shoes you'd have never heard the end of it. And, Sarah Palin? How soon we forget.

That would go against the Obama mantra of do as I say, not as I do.

  14. Tim is right, if she really wanted to do good and not have a photo op she would have donated the cost of the shoes less the $35 it would cost for a funtional pair from Payless. You can walk a dog/ work a soup kitchen in $35 shoes too.

Her next quote when told they have no money for bread may well be "let them eat cake."

Where the Hell is the media with this nonsense going on?

  17. I wrestled about bringing this up: blacks love the latest tennis/basketball/running shoes. They may be residing an a squalid ghetto tenement but they have those $200 Air Jordans or whatever. One of my tipsters is calling Michelle "Blackie Kennedy."

  18. You can't say we haven't come a long way: Only in the U.S. of A. can we have obese poverty wearing $200 sneakers.
