  3. I've been the announcer the past decade-plus for the Radio Hall of Fame, and I got to know the Harveys a bit. Paul was a real old school courtly gentleman, who was genuinely amazed that so many people wanted to meet him. He always had kind words and sincere inquiries about your life. Angel was a dear sweet lady. Son Paul Jr. is about 6'5" with a shaved head and, when you first meet him, a very serious demeanor. He reminded me of a cross between Abe Lincoln and Kojak. Paul Jr. is an accomplished concert pianist and, aside from writing "The Rest of the Story", has never had much interest in taking over the family franchise (Paul was 9 years into a 10 year, 100 million dollar deal from ABC). ABC has to keep the shows going as long as they can, since they're a whole herd of cash cows. But I can't see them lasting out the year. There was only one Paul Harvey. As Charles Osgood has said, "Paul Harvey can say more in a pause than the rest of us can say in a paragraph." Osgood also said, "You can't NOT listen to Paul Harvey." Amen.

  6. Jimbo,

I agree, a nice testimony to a great news man. Some of the young metdia types should be locked in a room and be forced to listend how to deliver the news to normal folks.

The world will miss Paul, Rest in Peace.
