Here's a CNN anchorbabe introducing Rush Limbaugh's appearance Saturday at the conservative CPAC annual gathering in DC. claiming Rush is "kind of commandeering" the Republican party:
CNN "Senior Political Analyst" Bill Schneider slammed Rush's speech as "angry, bullying, mocking, harsh." Bill, CPAC is only once a year. Why not review MSNBC where every night is angry, bullying, mocking, and harsh...
Rush is a commanding presence: One of the things that is totally erroneous about me -- and I just want to get this up front -- is that I'm pompous. [Laughter]And that I am arrogant. Neither of these things are remotely true. I can tell you a joke to illustrate this. Larry King passed away, goes to heaven. He's greeted by Saint Peter at the gates. Saint Peter says, "Welcome, Mr. King, it's great to have you here. I want to show you around, give you an idea of what's here, maybe you can pick a place that you'd like to reside." King says, "I just have one question: Is Rush Limbaugh here?" "No, he's got a lot of time yet, Mr. King." So Saint Peter begins the tour. Larry King sees the various places and it's beyond anything we can imagine in terms of beauty. Finally, he gets to the biggest room of all, with this giant throne. And over the throne is a flashing beautiful angelic neon sign that says "Rush Limbaugh." [Laughter] And Larry King looks at Saint Peter and says: "I thought you said he wasn't here." "He said, he's not, he's not. This is God's room. He just thinks he's Rush Limbaugh."[Laughter] [Applause]So you see I'm not pompous. [Laughter]
Watch the entire speech and read the transcript on Rush's website here.
I'm not a big fan of Rush Limbaugh but have always recognised his radio programme to be entertaining and sometimes downright funny. Angry? I don't think so. Of course he mocked the liberals. So what? Bill Schneider means that it is only OK to mock conservatives, President Bush, and Vice President Cheney.
ReplyDeleteI listened to his entire speech on Sirius Radio yesterday while driving home. What Schneider calls "angry" was really "inspiring", and that scares him.
Why are some on the left so concerned with Rush? I swear some of them are the most insecure people. Talk radio and Fox News don't MAKE people conservative.
ReplyDeleteBecause Rush has 20 mil loyal listeners...
ReplyDeleteWhy in the Hell when Omama calls some Republicans fools, uncaring, and incompetent in front of 70,000 screaming fans at a football stadium, it is an EVENT? All is fine and no issues.
ReplyDeleteWhen Rush goes in front of 9000 of similar minded individuals and delivers a speech that is an ispiration and not nasty toward anyone, he is angry, harsh, bullying, and mocking.
How do you spell non-objective double standard in the media?
There is still a first amendment, I think?
The first amendment doesn't prohibit criticisms of Limbaugh's speech. And the louder those criticisms are the more attention his points of view are given. So I hope they keep it up.
ReplyDeleteI hope the president takes a shot at Limbaugh again, too.
I know, but it's not as if those 20 million people would become bleeding heart liberals if Rush didn't exist.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Anon. Rush Limbaugh doesn't lead anyone, but he does energise many. And it's not the twenty or so million loyal listeners of his who are the intended audience of Rahm Emanuel's attack, but the fifty or so million voters who live their lives in a mostly conservative fashion (either socially, fiscally, or both) but don't pay a whole lot of attention to what goes on in the political arena day-in and day-out.
