CBS "60 Minutes" pimps a preview of Sunday night's Steve Kroft Chicago Ritz-Carlton sit-down with Barack Obama and Michelle. Watch it here.Kroft: "When did it sink in?"
Michelle: "I'm not sure it has sunk in." She saw on TV the graphic "President-elect Barack Obama." Michelle turns to Barack: "You are the 44th president of the United States of America! Wow! What a country we live in."
Obama: "Then she said 'Are you going to take the girls to school tomorrow?"
Michelle: "I did not!"
To the critics slamming the cuteness, I submit we won't be exposed to Clintonesque Secret Service tales of White House lamp-throwing, fuck yous, cigars penetrating orifices other than the one intended et al.
But wait! There's more! The Obama campaign czars tell Kroft how they did it. Came from nowhere and mounted what's being touted as one of the most strategically brilliant presidential campaigns. Campaign head David Axelrod: "My fundamental concern for him wasn't whether he had the capacity, 'cause I think he's the smartest guy that I've ever worked with or known. But it was whether he had that pathological drive to be president. You know, so often, what defines presidential candidates is this need to be president, to define themselves. He didn't have that. And, you know, we told him, 'You're gonna have to find some other way to motivate yourself.' And he did, which was what he could do as president."

Carefull, Michelle--you're sounding proud of country.

She didn't say "What a wonderful country we live in"
She just can't spit the words out, even after her husband is elected to the highest office in the land.
Hey both of you forgot, Michelle has only started being "proud" of this country since the hubby was nominated. Geez "Wonderful Country" is still a ways down the road for a country which has given her and her husband the freedom to reach as far as they can.
