Keith Olbermann: Shock & Aha!

Looks like Olbermann isn’t starting the week off on a good foot. The Edward R. Murrow Apparition was unable to claim his usual #2 spot at 8PM in 25-54 last night. (That's Olbermann's primal scream Rorschach inkblot). Placing fourth on Friday during a big night of news – Hurricane Ike, Olbermann was not able to climb back to his perch. Instead, he was #3 last night in his time slot, behind Nancy Grace.

Monday 8PM 25-54 Ratings:
FNC’s O’Reilly Factor: 773,000 in 25-54 demo (had 3.5 million viewers last night)
Headline’s Nancy Grace: 586,000 in 25-54
MSNBC’s Countdown: 571,000 in 25-54
CNN Election Center: 456,000 in 25-54

NBC prez Jeff Zucker and Olbermann apparently share the same psychiatrist. Richard Dreyfuss in "What About Bob?" Zucker pondered the above inkblot and divines an "editorial page" hole big enough to drive "The Love Boat" through without hitting the biased sides of Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.

The shrink hypnotized Zucker into blubbering this: I think I'm incredibly comfortable with that program. The network seeks, and does an incredibly good job seeking, other points of view, but obviously Keith plays a major role in the voice, certainly in that hour and on the network. "Zucker described Olberman's role as that of "an editorial page.""For most of its day [MSNBC] is the rest of the front section of the newspaper and then brings an editorial point of view from its editorial page at 8 o'clock at night.

The operative two words: "I think." Zucker's basic killer instincts are dulled by Prozac these days. Or something more nefarious. You're so full of shit, Zucker. Nobody is buying your crap... There's a reason Zucker sort of rhymes with "fucker."
