Stay Classy, New York!

Stephen Colbert does a hilarious send-up of the Bill O'Reilly on-air "Inside Edition" blowup. About 3:12 in... Ran on the Colbert Report last night. He dons a Ron Burgundy mustache and turtleneck, pretending to be a local TV news anchor in some obscure North Carolina market:

Ron Burgundy's San Diego is much classier today. A Tee Vee station served an open-ended suspension to "Good Morning San Diego" reporter Rod "shit out of" Luck for beating it out of his girlfriend. The 58-year-old Luck looks like a Las Vegas casino bouncer. Check it out...

Marty,

Was it me or did early O'Reilly look like Grandpa Al Lewis?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Bill's competitors made sure that we saw his blow up, and it WAS really funny. However, they aren't even in the same ballpark as Bill when it comes to the analysis that makes his fans keep coming back for more. Bill's ratings speak for themselves.

Yes, we're watching, but re we laughing with him or are we laughing at him?

Personally I think he's a buffoon, great entertainment but not to be taking seriously. Kind of like Morton Downey Jr.

Pork rinds for the cerebellum.

PT,

I remember life without FOX news. My lib friends were always putting me down for my opinions because I thought differently than they did. Right after 9/11, I was making a point about something I read in the NYT, and they totally dismissed my point of view. That was the night I discovered FOX news and was shocked to find Bill was arguing the very same point I had been arguing with my intolerant friends.

Free speech means tolerating other points of view.
