Radio & Records News/Talk/Sports Awards

The envelope please: The poor presenter with paper cuts from opening envelopes - Mike Stern - must have heard me yell "knife" as security hauled me away from my lunch companions. The awards were given out today at R&R's Talk Radio Seminar in Washington, DC.

  • News/Talk/Sports Industry Exec of the year: Kraig Kitchin, formerly Premiere Radio Networks, now with "Sound Mind"
  • NTS Radio exec: Gabe Hobbs, Clear Channel
  • News Radio Executive: Harvey Nagler, CBS Radio News VP (photo)
  • NTS program director: Robin Bertolucci, KFI LA
  • NTS syndicated personality: Rush Limbaugh, Premiere
  • NTS general manager: Greg Ashlock, Clear Channel LA
  • NTS local personality: Bill Handel, KFI
  • NTS station of the year, markets 1-25: KFI
  • NTS station of the year markets 26+: Tie - KSL Salt Lake City/WLW Cincinnati

Only one winner - Harvey Nagler - was present to accept his honor in person. I'll get into it tomorrow. By my count only 11 live bodies of the 54 nominated showed up.

Was it really necessary for the secret service agents to wrestle you to the ground? We could have done that for them.
