Gawker's Terrifying Blog Of Fox News "Bikini Bonehead": Fox News talking head Courtney Friel was recently called a "bikini bonehead" (yeah, that would be me), and a walking non-sequitur (ditto), but Friel tried to juice all the hate for what it was worth on her blog, writing "any publicity is good publicity."
I did not break this story out of "hate." As a former network radio and TV news anchor with a master's degree in journalism, I just call it as I see it with absence of malice. Dear Courtney: It's nothing personal. Fox News suits, news and image consultants, voice and speech coaches, have taken on an impossible challege transforming you into a credible television journalist. You're a blank canvas constitutionally incapable of emerging from the TV news cocoon reborn infused with news cred.
By parroting the "any publicity is good publicity" mantra of paparazzi-obsessed Hollywood trainwrecks, it is abundantly clear Miz Courtney is infinitely more suited for strutting the red carpet.
My professional advice to Fox brass Roger Ailes and benefactors playing Henry Higgins to Eliza Doolittle: Give it up. Teaching Audrey Hepburn to be a lady is a hell of a lot easier than drilling journalism and TV news into a black hole. Take her off the news set and return her from whence she came: the narcissistic celebrity beat. All one has to do is check our Courtney's blog top heavy with celebrity photos to realize this woman's head is not in television news. Her lean credentials mesh well with celebrity media whores and not serious TV news journalists.
I'm aware Fox News has been criticized for hiring hot young chicks. To wit: Ainsley Earhardt, an eerie carbon copy of Miz Friel. "Miz Ainsley was separated at birth from bikini bonehead Siamese twin Courtney Friel but Ainsley got the brain." The difference? Ainsley's inner hard drive is capable of programming.

Fox is setting up this woman for failure by putting her in a position for which she is eminently unqualified. The kindest thing they could do would be do either place her elsewhere or let her go.
You'd think so. But it seems she has a new contract. Either that or her initial one with Fox is a multiyear deal, since she has been there more than a year now.
You honestly have no clue what you're talking about. Courtney has worked in the TV business since she was 19, and she works her ass off. Just because YOU don't have a multi-year contract with Fox doesn't mean you need to diss her. Lay off.
If she's been at this for almost a decade and is still this atrocious, then it's not a good thing to be bragging about all that experience.
